ConocoPhillips Begins oil Production

Conoco has already begun the oil production at the Ekofisk Southern development project which is partial of the Greater Ekofisk Area in the Norwegian North Sea.
The company can produce 70,000 boe/d oil volumes. It plans to drill 35 additional production wells as well as 8 water injection wells, so more production will be obtained in the next 4 years. The company said that it would add 60,000 boe/d productions by 2017.
After the project, several new projects will be followed to increase the company’s production. The second project will be eldfisk II, which will run in early 2015 and make an energy recovery and prolong the field service life. It is also a possession left by the Norway premier.
The company has got the Norwegian Parliament approval to develop and run the Ekofisk South as well as the Eldfisk II in June 2011. The Eldfisk will start production in 2015.
In 2009, ConocoPhillips said that it would start a program to inject water in Ekofish South, where is not flooded. One year later, it signed a contract with Aker to construct a platform jacket and bridge support jacket for the Ekofisk 2/4L accommodations platform. In 2010, it had signed a contract for the topsides module of the Ekofisk 2/4 Z production platform.
In 1992, because of safe concerns, the Company was warned to shut down the Ekofisk oil field. The already aging equipment and not often maintenance were in poorer situation due to the seabed subsidence.
In 1998, Phillips said that it would restart the completion work of Ekofisk and remove derelict platforms in 2001
The company’s crude oil and gas productions in Greater Okfisk field will be delivered to Teesside, England, and Emden, Germany by pipelines
ConocoPhillips holds 35.1% working shares of the Greater Ekofisk Area. Its joints are that the Total SA holding 39.9%, Eni SPA holding 12.4%, Statoil ASA, and Petoro are respectively 7.6% and 5%.
