Tethys petroleum Ltd. has made a report of its exploratory drilling, seismic, and shallow gas programs status on the Akkulka block in Kazakhstan.
There is gas discovered in the AKD08 Doto exploratory well southern of Doris field. And large amounts of gas are encountered in the 600m. The company has drilled 1,368m, but it plans to reach a depth of 3,500.
The Doto well is aimed at several zones including the Lower Cretaceous sandstone and Upper Jurassic carbonate sequences. The results of the nearby AKK 15 have been proven to be commercial.
It also plans to drill the new AKD09 Dexa exploratory well on Oct.26, which is with the same purpose of the current units in Doris field. The well is expected to reach a depth of 2,400 m.
Tethys will start the KBD01 Kalypso exploratory well and do a integrated test about it when in completion. The company will perforate potentially acidize, and frac the carbonate interval at 4,100 m. And the well has already been tested there are limestones with hydrocarbon in the 100m zones.
In early November, Tethys plans to start a shallow gas exploratory program which is in low risk. The new wells will be drilled to 600-800m in the central southeastern part of the Akkulka exploration contract. And there are good results about Tethys that its 11 of the last 13 shallow exploratory wells are tested to contain commercial gas.
The latest 3D seismic program on the Akkulka block is going to be finished with 78% completion. The data showed that the further prospects identified northwest of Doris field and with similar Cretaceous reservoirs predicted. A further 2D data has been shot and processed targeting other areas of i shallow producing Kyzyloi gas field.
The company is installing and optimizing the artificial lift equipment and improvements in fluid handling. The program has effected the oil production to 2,150b/d. So Tethys looks forward to solving the issues in ten days and recovering the production as soon as possible.
It is expected to have a additional 500b/d oil in the first quarter of 2014 when the work and test operations on the AKD03 well in Dione oil field are finished. According to the engineers' estimation, there are 4.25 million bbl of oil in Jurassic sandstone of the AKD03 well.
