How to Maintain Gate Valve?

Maintenance of gate valve:
1. Handwheel, handle and actuator cannot be used for craning and collision is not allowed.
2. Double discs gate valve should be installed vertically (Stem is vertical and handwheel is at the top).
3. For the gate valve having bypass valve, bypass valve should be opened firstly to balance differential pressure at the exit and entrance and reduce opening force.
4. For the gate valve having actuator, installation must follow stipulations on specification.
5. Gate valve should be lubricated for at least one time monthly, if the valve is opened or closed frequently.
Gate valve is used to cut off medium in pipe. When gate valve opens completely, the passage is straight. Medium have less pressure losses when passing through the valve. Gate valve is suitable for the situation which the valve does not need to be opened or closed frequently and the disc maintain opening or closing completely. It is not applicable for controlling or throttling. Vibration on gate valve may be caused by high speed medium when disc is opened partly. Vibration may damage to disc and sealing face of disc. Otherwise, disc may be eroded by medium when using for throttling. For structure, the main difference between classifications of gate valve is sealing elements. Based on sealing elements, gate valve can be classified into wedge gate valve, parallel gate valve, parallel double discs gate valve and wedge double discs gate valve. Wedge gate valve and parallel gate valve are the most commonly utilized.
