PEMEX Will Import Gas from the U.S.

PEMEX (Petroleos Mexicanos) shows that it will reach an agreement with Mercuria and JPMorgan Chase & Co. for importing gas from the U.S. At present, Mercuria is negotiating with JPMorgan Chase & Co. about merge. For that, PEMEX will entrust to negotiate for importing gas.
The agreement will be conducted by subsidiary of PEMEX, Gas & Petrochemical Corporation, a corporation which seeks for ensuring long-term gas supply to Mexico. Domestic gas output in Mexico is still not enough for meeting the demands for gas. PEMEX claims that the agreement will go into effect in the forth quarter of this year but it refuse to disclose specific import volume.
New information showed that PEMEX imported 1.359 billion cubic feet of gas from the U.S. according to correlation index of PEMEX in June, which was 3.2 times of total import volume of gas five years ago. PEMEX plans that the average daily import volume of gas will increase to 2.1 billion cubic feet when the construction of LOSRAMOS gas pipe will be finished in 2015.
In recent years, gas output of PEMEX is always decreasing constantly. Daily average gas output was 7.031 billion cubic feet in 2009. However, daily average gas output decreased to 6.37 billion cubic feet in 2013. In the first half of this year, daily average gas output was 6.523 billion cubic feet.
