At noon yesterday, leakage of gas pipe was happened in an inspection shaft, at intersection of Hanxi No.1 Road and Liberation Road, Wuhan.

At 3pm yesterday, three fire engines reached to scene for rescue. Firemen utilized water cannons, irrigating the inspection shaft where gas leak from for attenuation. Smells of gas were diluted gradually.

A driver said that the smells of gas could be scented out faintly at noon. A citizen found that gas leaked from an inspection shaft at crossroad. Then he called the police immediately.

Staffs of gas company showed that their inspectors discovered the leakage and reported to company. Soon, company sent servicemen. Firemen also reached there at the same time.

With the help the firemen, servicemen found the leakage point – a valve on gas pipe under road was loosed. At 4 pm, the loosed valve was tightened again, after attenuation and excavation. Because of disposition in time, leakage did not affect gas supply except for traffic jam on Hanxi No.1 Road during two hours for maintenance.

Staffs of gas company introduced that valve on gas pipe under arterial traffic may be loosed occasionally because of being grinded by car for a long time. However, their inspector discovered leakage by using smell and leak detector and disposed immediately.
